From humble beginnings Chanel Gomes takes out Coaches Player Award 2012

Norma Plummer is up there with the world’s best coaches and in her new role as West Coast Fever’s Head Coach, Norma, awarded Chanel Gomes with Coaches Player Award 2012 at Fevers Awards night.
What a proud moment for her Mum, Leanne, as they have made so many sacrifices to help Chanel follow her dream and there is no greater reward than knowing all that hard work has been worth it.
Chanel was a gangly 15 year old still growing into her skin when she first came into my Wildcats team.  Surrounded by older players Chanel was quiet and reserved and just did as asked.  The three years I had the pleasure of coaching Chanel before she headed off to the AIS, I witnessed this shy girl turn into a machine.  We filled in the AIS application together and as nervous as Chanel was, I knew this shining star would one day wear the green and gold.
This girl is still rising to the top of her game and her ability to drive herself, continue to learn, believe in her own abilities and her positive outlook are characteristics that this champion displays.
We are all so proud of her journey so far and will be watching eagerly her road to the top.
Chanel Gomes – You are a STAR
