Club Clinics

| Posted inWeekly Blog
When organising the club calendar for 2013, clubs should look at inviting guest coaches in to conduct regular clinics.
Breaking the season down to include:

  • Fitness
  • Shooting Accuracy
  • Defensive Skills
  • Attacking Skills
  • Passing
  • Footwork
  • Strategies,

will ensure players and coaches receive exposure to these skills.
Coaching the coaches is a very important start to the season especially if there are new coaches that have joined the club.  These clinics can provide the coaches with a season plan including training sessions and strategies (eg centre passes).
Specialist sessions are valuable to players and coaches.  Throughout the season all coaches should be confident in teaching shooting, attacking and defensive skills so having a mentor coach can be an asset for a club.
A guest coach or mentor coach can take pressure off the coaching convenor. They can assist with coach selection, coach education, player development and pathways for both players and coaches.
